SPU Ship Canal Water Quality

The Ship Canal Tunnel is designed to capture combined-sewer flows from the Ballard, Fremont, and Wallingford neighborhoods. The project is comprised of five drop shaft sites, a pump station, effluent piping, and nearly three miles of underground tunnel storage. EES is contracted in a program management role as the Civil Discipline Lead, overseeing all civil engineering related with surface improvements to facilitate the tunnel designs. EES performs and oversees design of the Ballard Site for the Tunnel Effluent Pump Station (TEPS) contract of this program. This involves providing coordination, design and permanent site layout for the TEPS site and street frontage improvements, including parking layout, vehicle circulation, grading, ADA improvements, stormwater design, land use code research, and permitting support. Stormwater design tasks include research into the city stormwater code, downstream analysis, water quality facility design, runoff calculations, and pipe conveyance calculations.
